The Baptist Year

During the year 2000, we held all our normal traditional celebrations: Easter; Strawberry Tea in July - well supported by the village folk; Harvest - when £400 was raised for Christian Aid; and Christmas.

There have been many occasions when we have strengthened the ties of Christian unity and the two churches in the village have worked together. These include:

Millennium Drama - especially written and highlighting events in the life of Christ.

Distribution of Millennium Gospels - when representatives of the two churches visited every home in the village with the Good News.

Commissioning Service for the School's new Headmaster.

Easter Sunrise Service on Burrow Mump.

Songs of Praise on the Playing Field.

Remembrance Day Service.

Christmas Carol singing around the village.

Our young people have had their share in the activities, including the jointly run Crusaders Group, many of whom joined the Spree Weekend in Swindon in the summer, and a successful Youth Weekend at the Chapel in June.

In September, a Service of Recognition marked the end of Adrian's studies as he became a fully fledged "Rev".

On the practical side, we put in place a beautiful wall hanging in our porch made by Jenny Blackburn, and also started replacing the glass in all the main church windows.

In all this we work to give glory to God and to bring God to the people.
