The Poppy Collection in Stoke and adjacent villages is co-ordinated by Alex Morrice, a retired Royal Navy man, assisted by collectors Valerie and Graham Board, Mike Orwin, Pam Pendleton, Julie Pocock, Jo Tyler, Pat Mennim, Christopher Kellet, Ross and Karen Young, Merle Chedzoy, Judy Bright, David Lake, Veronoca Andrews, Perce Musgrove, Par Gage, Trish Everitt, Janet Crane, Will and Di Tilley, and Sally Morrice.
The total collected was £1153.40, so for two years running the total had topped £1000. But we had to wait to know the final figure as five tines got marooned on the wrong side of the floods and could not be collected and counted until some time after the end of the November appeal.
| Remembrance Sunday - November 12th. The United Service was held in the Parish Church. A wreath was laid on the memorial tablet by Eric Hembrow on behalf of the village. |
