Badgers and foxes are common and rabbits are once again on the increase. Roe Deer can be seen on the moors and there is evidence of otters on the river bank, but they are very secretive and difficult to observe.

The RSPB reserve in West Sedgemoor means that our bird population is vastly increased by waterfowl - Canada Geese, Swans, Wigeon, Mallard and Teal. Herons are a common sight flying or standing absolutely still, looking into a ditch for a small fish.

After several difficult years many small birds are making a recovery, with changing habitat and sprays. An exception to this is the decline of the Songthrush and Skylark.
