STOKE ST GREGORY PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on

Monday 8th January 2007, in the Meeting Room, Williams Hall.

 

Present Irene Browning(Chairman), John Hembrow, Chris Pitman, David House,

Robert Hembrow, Trevor Williams, Ian Parker.

In attendance Tony McKenzie (Clerk), David Lake(Footpaths Officer) and Nobby

Clark(County Councillor)

 

74. Apologies Apologies were received from Julia Clewes and Sue Hembrow.

75 .Minutes of the Previous Meeting

The minutes dated 11th December were agreed by all to be a correct record of that meeting

and signed by the Chairman after an alteration was made to the footpaths report to show

that this referred to "fallen trees".

76. Matters Arising

Footpaths DL reported on the following

All fallen trees had now been cleared

Footpath 25/8 A fallen tree had been cleared but the fence at the adjoining house has still

not been repaired and this is causing problems with rubbish etc, blowing onto the

footpath. The Clerk was asked to write to SW Housing Association to ask that the fence be

repaired as soon as possible.

DL thanked TW for the repair to the stile between Ivy Villa and Pound Drove.

A discussion took place on correspondence received from Somerset County Council re an

application for the installation of 2 kissing gates on footpath 25/16. Following the discussion

it was proposed by JH, seconded by TW and agreed by all that the application be approved

with a request that adequate permanent waymarkers are present. The Clerk was asked to

advise Somerset County Council.

TW reported the dangerous state of footpath 25/8 and reported that there was now a 1m

drop which is dangerous for all people using it which includes children going to school and

elderly people. This has been previously reported to S.C.C. but no action taken. The

Clerk was asked to write to S.C.C. and SW Housing Association expressing the Council’s

concern re the dangerous condition.

DH and TW asked if there was any further news on when the work would commence on the

rumble strip and cycle barriers on the footpath between Willowmead and Polkesfield. The Clerk was asked to write to Falcon Rural Housing.

Highways

Concern was again expressed re the state of Slough Lane following further heavy rain. The

Clerk was asked to write to Highways re this and remind them that a written reply had not yet been received to the Council’s letter re the condition of Dark Lane.

TW reported that work had now done at the Old Coal Yard following problems during recent high winds.

Notice Board The Clerk reported that Highways had advised that there would be a delay in

in the Council receiving the licence agreement for the proposed notice board but that we

could go ahead after consulting members of the public and adjacent landowners. DH agreed

to speak to the local resident nearest the proposed site and the Clerk agreed to contact S.C.C.

to obtain wording for notices advising the public.

Burial Ground JH agreed to so supply the soil needed for the levelling and seeding required at the burial ground. The Clerk reported on behalf of JC that the latest graves were again slipping and agreed to notify the gravedigger via the undertaker.

77. Planning

36/2006/015 Conversion of Barn into dwelling at Griggs Hill

36/2006/022 Erection of two storey extension at Ivy Cottage, Curload

36/2006/023 Demolition of existing single storey extension, and replacement with two

storey side extension at Windy Willows,Curload.

T.D.B.C. advise conditional approval of the above applications

78. Financial Matters

Approval of Cheques for Payment

521 A.A.McKenzie Clerks salary and expenses £405.91

522 Taunton and District Citizens Advice Bureau Donation £ 25.00

It was proposed by CP, seconded by TW and agreed by all that the above cheques be

approved and signed for payment.

79. Correspondence This was put on circulation to Councillors.

81. Any other matters for discussion

Allotments Questionnaire for Plot Holders. The Clerk was asked to advise T.D.B.C. that there were no allotments in Stoke St. Gregory.

Church Clock. The Clerk reported that repairs to the Church Clock were in hand.

Dates of future meetings. After discussions the following was agreed by all.

As 9th April was Easter Monday the meeting scheduled for that date would be held on

Tuesday 10th April.

The Annual Parish Meeting would be held on Monday 23rd April and Councillors were

asked to think about the format of the meeting and whether guest speakers should be

invited. A discussion on this will take place at the next meeting.

The Annual Parish Council Meeting will be held on Monday 14th May followed by a

normal Parish Council meeting. This will be the first meeting of the new Council

following the election on 3rd May.

The Clerk reported on correspondence from Falcon Rural Housing re building on the space for 3 further plots. It was agreed by all that this should be advertised in the next village newsletter and that the Clerk should obtain further information from Falcon.

TW gave some information on recycling plastic, cardboard etc. and he agreed to write an article for the next village newsletter.

 

 

The next meeting will be held on Monday 12th February at 7.30pm in the Meeting Room, Williams Hall .

 

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.45pm.
