Parish Council

Stoke St Gregory Parish Council consists of nine volunteer councillors and one paid clerk. The PC is the most local of the layers of local government, monitoring issues in the parish, liaising with the District and county Councils, and keeping an eye on infrastructure.

Meetings are held in the Village Hall at 7.30 on the second Monday of each month. Anyone is welcome to come along and listen, or to raise concerns before the meeting opens. Agendas and minutes of past meetings are available on the PC documents page, likewise regulations and financial documents.

Stoke St Gregory was one of only 9 out of 51 parishes in Taunton Deane to have an elected PC in 2015 —in the remaining parishes there was no competition for seats. We believe that having an elected PC is a good thing since it helps to keeps parishioners in touch with those who are representing them. Unfortunately, in the 2019 local election there were no new candidates and one existing member withdrew, so we had an uncontested reappointment of the remaining eight members. We very much hope that more people will come forward so that we return to having an elected PC in 2023.
