Thanks to all who completed the recent survey of opinion in the Village regarding the potential future activity around protecting these village assets. While there are still many uncertainties and equally many possible outcomes, it has been agreed to start making the first steps towards forming a steering group that would function as the management team once the project becomes better defined. Rather than wait until circumstance are clarified, the formation of this group would permit immediate action if needed.
While this communication has been specifically addressed to those, who kindly volunteered to potentially function on this steering team, the meeting planned for June 7th is open to all. It will take place at 7:30 PM in the Village Hall. The creation of this team will establish an independent body, answerable only to the community, which will undertake to manage all aspects of establishing a social enterprise, from finance to functioning. Taking Guidance from the Plunkett Foundation (a charity specifically supporting social enterprise) a series of roles have been defined for the Steering Group. These roles and the skills required are described in this document. If you feel you can make a contribution in any of the roles described please plan to attend this meeting. Furthermore, there is an outline project plan also developed in conjunction with the Plunkett Foundation.
At this stage there are only a few key positions that need to be filled however, it is anticipated that this will be the tip of the iceberg once work starts. Consequently if you feel that the current roles on offer are not suited to the contribution you can offer, do not lose heart, come and join our meeting. I have no doubt that there will be many other ways that you will be able to make a contribution.
