STOKE ST GREGORY PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on
Monday 8th September 2008 in the Meeting Room, Williams Hall.
Present John Hembrow (Chairman), Julia Clewes, Heather Venn,
David House, Trevor WilliamsIn attendance Tony McKenzie (Clerk), Paul Kenefick (Footpaths Officer), Phil Stone (District
Councillor), Lynsey Gamblin (Police Community Support Officer)
Police Community Support Officer
Concern was expressed by Councillors about the re- routing of traffic through Curload while New Road, North Curry was closed. DH reported on correspondence he had had with SCC about this and LG also agreed to follow this up. DH reported on vandalism to the village hall and problems with motorbikes and cars at night at the hall when it was not in use. LG agreed to follow this up.

47. Minutes of the Previous Meeting
The minutes of the meeting held on Monday 11th August 2008 were agreed by all to be a
correct record of that meeting and signed by the Chairman.
48. Matters Arising
Footpaths PK reported that Sam Jones (SCC) had visited the village and reported that all
outstanding requests for jobs to be done had been actioned or would be completed over the
next few weeks. HV reported problems with the footpath at Higher House Farm , Helland
and PK agreed to investigate.
The Clerk reported that a request had been received for a rubbish bin to be place near the
bench in Willey Road. It was agreed by all not to do this as a bin was situated at the bus
shelter which is not far from the bench. LG agreed to look at this when in in the village
Highways PK asked if any reply had been received to the Council’s letter to a local resident
re remedial work required opposite the Post Office. The Clerk advised that no reply had been
received and was asked to send a further letter.

49. Planning
36/2008/10 & 11LB Following discussion it was agreed by all that this was a well thought
through application and should be supported with a recommendation that the electricity
supply is put underground so that the current pole in place could be removed.
36/2008/012 Following discussion it was agreed by all to support the application as a tiled
roof would look much better than the glass one on the original application.
It was reported that it had been brought to the attention of the Parish Council that it
appeared that the planning conditions on application 36/2007/016 had not been met. It was
agreed by all that the Clerk should write to Enforcement Officer at T.D.B.C.
DH and the Clerk reported on the new site notice that will be used by T.D.B.C. for planning
applications
50. Financial Matters
Authorisation of cheques for payment
579 SLCC Annual membership renewal 2008 £ 59.00
580 J.Musgrove Grass cutting and strimming plus road signs £111.25
It was agreed by all that the cheques be signed
Donations
Donations of £55 to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and £25 to Victim Support
Somerset were agreed by all.
Receipt of Monies
The Clerk reported that the footpaths and burial ground grants totalling £ 230 had been
received from T.DB.C.. He also reported receipt of the VAT refund of £358.26.
Changes to bank signatories The Clerk advised that the forms were still being completed
and identification taken to the bank by the new signatories
51. Correspondence
The correspondence was put on circulation to all Councillors.52. Somerset Levels and Moors – Local action for Rural Communities
DH reported on correspondence received from SCC and the Clerk reported on an e mail
from SCC re the appointment of CaR’s

54. Any other items for discussion
The Clerk was asked to contact Falcon Rural Housing re response to the Additional Housing
article in the Village newsletter .
TW advised that sites were being identified for planting approx 50 trees following the money
raised from the old scrap iron collection held earlier in the year.
TW asked if any response had been received to the newsletter article re garden sharing. The
Clerk advised that no response had been received and it was agreed by all to take no further
action.
The next meeting will be held on Monday 13th October 2008 at 7.30pm in the meeting room
at the Williams Hall.
