You may have noticed that for the second time in a year, there is a brand new signpost arm at Meare Green: HUNTHAM ½. If you are particularly sharp-eyed, you may have wondered why the letters are painted green.

Partly this is a nod to the default dark green of HOTV and an attempt to make Stoke St Gregory that little bit different. Partly it is a subtle hint to tractor drivers to please take care not to break it again. Partly it is a message to Highways: if you expect us to pay for these heritage signs, we’ll paint them whatever colour we like thank you very much. (And partly it is because I had a tin of green sign-writing paint that needed using up.)
