Somerset County Council has launched a new service to bring books to those who are unable to access libraries, whether through long-term illness, mobility issues or caring responsibilities.
The way in which the service works is:
When an individual contacts us we will arrange for a volunteer to visit you. They will ask you what you like to read and the best times to visit you, usually on a fortnightly
or monthly basis.
The volunteer will choose books based on your preferences and deliver them to you .
Our volunteers can also support you in accessing free-e- book, e – audiobooks and e-magazines. They can provide you with audio books and DVDs for free.
All our volunteers are DBS checked and have provided references and undertaken training.
